Hygiene safety is paramount for all McDonald's restaurants. Therefore, the type of industrial dishwashers we use must ensure a clean and bacteria-free result. In our dialog with JEROS, McDonald's Denmark wants to guarantee that the dishwashers never finish cleaning before the disinfecting rinse at 85℃ is achieved. JEROS, with its built-in temperature protection, fulfills this guarantee with the utmost satisfaction.
In addition, I hardly notice the dishwashers in everyday life. They do their job and help keep the workflow running smoothly at the pace McDonald's is known for.
A quick and efficient cleaning process that guarantees consistent, bacteria-free results is essential!
JEROS's unique lid design enables the machine to fit seamlessly into even the tightest spaces.
JEROS partners with McDonald's worldwide, including locations in Belgium, parts of France, Germany, Finland, England, the USA, and, of course, many restaurants in Denmark.
In Denmark, the majority of McDonald's restaurants use our industrial dishwashers – either the JEROS 9110 or the larger JEROS 9120. These are often supplied as part of a complete set, including a pre-wash table with a sink, a hooded dishwasher, and a table for clean item storage.
A standout feature of our machines is the unique lid design, which McDonald's particularly appreciates. This design allows the machines to fit into even the smallest spaces, all while maintaining a seamless workflow in the busy restaurant environment.
To date, we have supplied more than 350 industrial dishwashers (or utensil washers) to McDonald's restaurants across Denmark. This includes custom tables, specially designed baskets for small items, and over 50 Dish and Warewashers for the new McCafé locations – a collaboration we are incredibly proud of.
Now, let’s take a closer look at our partnership with McDonald's restaurants in Belgium.

The fastest washing time with minimal water, energy, and chemical consumption
When a McDonald's restaurant opts for a JEROS hooded dishwasher, both the restaurant and the company embark on a sustainable mission. This mission focuses on achieving water savings of up to 50% compared to manual washing.
In addition to the water savings, the restaurant benefits from up to an 80% reduction in washing time, improving operational efficiency.
There’s more dishwashing involved in a fast food restaurant than most people realise.
McDonald's operates around the clock to serve its customers, which requires strict cleaning and hygiene protocols. The kitchen and lobby utensils, equipment, and items must be washed several times a day to maintain standards.
With JEROS's hooded dishwashers, McDonald's staff efficiently clean a wide range of items, including kitchen utensils, cutting boards, fry baskets, french fry dispensing funnels, and the trays used to serve food in the restaurants.
What can McDonald's clean in a hooded dishwasher, and a dish and warewasher?
In a JEROS machine, McDonald's can clean nearly every item and utensil used in the kitchen, café, and lobby. Our dishwashers easily wash and sanitise even the components of fryers and the trays used to serve food to guests.
The spacious washing cabinet in the hooded dishwasher is a significant advantage, as it eliminates the need for employees to wash large items by hand. This not only saves time but also reduces water, energy, and chemical usage, all while ensuring the highest hygiene standards are maintained.
Specially designed baskets to keep everything organised
We streamline the cleaning process by providing specially developed baskets for McDonald's, which employees can load directly into the dishwasher. Instead of placing small items in the dish rack, these baskets help keep everything organised and ensure nothing gets lost during the wash cycle.
For example, our baskets are used to safely hold whisks, like those used for McFlurry ice cream, preventing them from getting misplaced. These versatile baskets can be used in both JEROS dish and warewashers and industrial hooded dishwashers, making it easy to maintain order and efficiency across multiple restaurant locations.

Due to the need to optimise dishwashing space, McDonald's typically uses smaller dishwashers in their locations. However, in Belgium, McDonald's has introduced a new concept with larger restaurants that feature bigger back-of-house areas, providing more space for dishwashing. These new restaurants are being built on the outskirts of selected cities, strategically located near highways and main roads, much like some locations in Denmark, but with even more traffic.
The "Pass-Through Machine" – A Winning Solution
With more space dedicated to dishwashing, McDonald's Belgium has opted for the larger JEROS 9120 hooded dishwasher, complete with a larger pre-wash table and a side-by-side loading table. This configuration, known as a "pass-through machine," allows for seamless cleaning: staff can pre-rinse on one side of the machine, load trays and other items, and pull the cleaned dishes out on the opposite side—all without lifting a dish.
Ergonomics and ease of use are key priorities for McDonald's, and this setup allows for faster, more efficient cleaning while ensuring good working postures for employees.
Efficiency Gains and Cost Savings
The larger machine also helps reduce operational costs. With greater capacity, McDonald's can clean more dishes at once, reducing the frequency of washes needed each day. As a result, the restaurants save on water, chemicals, energy, and employee resources, all while improving dishwashing efficiency.
At JEROS, we are proud of the results we create with McDonald's. Both in Belgium and worldwide. We are proud that the fast food chain repeatedly gets a utensil washer that lasts for many years and ensures that the fast food chain's washing results are always consistent and bacteria-free with the shortest possible washing time and the lowest possible water consumption, energy, and chemicals.
